Just hovering over a tab (insurance for example) would show the primary coverage name, maybe a few details ..)

This would be very helpful! An easier solution might be just a status bar beneath the patient name or right next to it with this info:
**DOB, phone number, email, insurance co., copay, "important alerts" such as fusions or other contraindications.

While in Document tab , have a few key pieces of information on display right next to the patient name or just below in slightly smaller font:
**DOB, phone number, email, insurance, copay, "important alerts" such as fusions or other contraindications.
(technically this might be a different feature request, not hover, but always display).
